πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ DCYR Newsletter | July 3, 2026

Happy Independence Weekend, Douglas County!

You're reading the first edition of the official DCYR newsletter β€” a new monthly briefing from your Douglas County Young Republicans. Once a month, we'll bring you chapter news, upcoming events, ways to get involved, and what's happening in Douglas County and Colorado politics that matters to young conservatives.

We couldn't have picked a better moment to launch. This Saturday isn't just any Fourth of July β€” it's the 250th anniversary of the United States of America and the 150th anniversary of Colorado statehood. A once-in-a-lifetime double milestone, and Douglas County knows how to celebrate it.

America 250

πŸŽ† Where to Celebrate America's 250th in DougCo

First, the big update: with Stage 2 fire restrictions now in effect countywide, all fireworks displays in Douglas County are cancelled or postponed β€” including personal fireworks. Our first responders are stretched thin fighting wildfires across Colorado, so let's celebrate big and celebrate safely. The good news? The parties are still on all over the county:

Castle Rock, Colorado

CASTLE ROCK
- F-16 Flyover β€” Saturday morning, 10:40–10:50 AM. Two Colorado Air National Guard F-16 Fighting Falcons over the Rock and downtown. Don't miss it.
- Rock-It Run β€” Douglas County Fairgrounds, Saturday morning. 5K at 7 AM, half marathon, and free Kids 1K, with a post-race concert. Start the semiquincentennial with a run (or a very patriotic walk).

- America 250 – Colorado 150 Celebration β€” Festival Park, 5:30–9:30 PM. Free admission, live music all evening (Denver Dolls at 5:30, The Castle Rock Band at 6:45, Thunder Roads at 8), food trucks, face painting, and America 250 giveaways. The Pie Bake-Off returns on Perry Street from 5:30–6:30 β€” first 100 visitors get a free slice. πŸ₯§

HIGHLANDS RANCH
- Independence Day 5K β€” Town Center, 7:30 AM.
- Independence Day Parade β€” Highlands Ranch Parkway. Pet & Bike Parade at 8:45 AM, main parade at 9 AM.

LONE TREE
- Independence Day at Prairie Sky Park β€” Family Fun Ride at 9 AM, Family Fun Park 10 AM–1 PM (free, registration required), then Party in the Park starting at 6 PM with country artist Sophia Scott headlining at 8.

LARKSPUR
- Colorado Renaissance Festival β€” July 4–5 is Children's Weekend (kids 12 and under free with a paying adult) and Military Appreciation Weekend (buy-one-get-one adult tickets with military ID).

AND MORE β€” Perry Park's parade rolls at 11 AM on Red Rock Drive (costumes encouraged!), and Sterling Ranch hosts its Stars & Stripes morning bike parade and daytime celebration.

Parker friends: your fireworks aren't cancelled, just postponed β€” the Town rescheduled the show for Veterans Day, November 11.

If you spot fellow DCYR members out celebrating, grab a photo and tag us β€” we'd love to feature it next issue.

Primary Updates

πŸ—³οΈ Primary Recap: Douglas County Showed Up

Tuesday's primary is in the books, and Douglas County Republicans turned out. Thank you to everyone who voted, volunteered, spread the word, and helped friends and neighbors make a plan to vote.

Ballots are still being counted in some statewide races, and we'll hold our full recap until results are certified. What we can say now: the general election season starts now, and Republicans up and down the ballot in Douglas County are going to need young volunteers, young energy, and young voices between here and November.

If you've been waiting for the right moment to get involved β€” this is it.

  • What it costs: $19/year β€” or $10/year for full-time students, veterans, and active military.

  • How to join: Sign up in two minutes through our WinRed page. Membership is open to Douglas County residents ages 18–40.

Already active with DCYR? Nothing is being taken away - but becoming a paid member now locks in your standing before the full 2027 membership cycle begins, and to vote in any club election you'll need to be a member in good standing at least 30 days beforehand. If you're planning to have a say in who leads this chapter, don't wait.

Not in Douglas County, or just want to support the mission? Anyone can contribute as a donor β€” every dollar goes toward events, outreach, and electing Republicans in DougCo.
